Grade 10 Academic Options

Grade 10 learners benefit from an integrated Secondary school academic program that ensures preparedness for either the international or Brazilian curricula. 

Throughout Grade 10, students participate in guidance sessions with our fully qualified university and career counselor. These help pupils determine which academic pathway to follow in Grades 11 and 12, ensuring their choices align with their individual interests, strengths, and future ambitions. While autonomy and responsibility are instilled in each of our pupils, teachers, and counselors continuously communicate with parents, helping to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident in their choice. 

Academic Pathways for Grades 11 & 12

In Grade 11, Secondary school students can choose to follow either the Brazilian National Core Curriculum (BNCC) or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), a globally recognized two-year Secondary school qualification. Both pathways are delivered bilingually, ensuring pupils develop superior proficiency in English and Portuguese, preparing them for success both in Brazil and abroad.

Our approach emphasizes achieving exceptional academic results while prioritizing student well-being and enrichment. In addition to our wide range of enrichment activities, BNCC learners can select optional subjects from the international curriculum to complement their timetables. This hybrid approach allows students to enhance their knowledge in areas of interest while preparing for Brazilian entrance exams. Although the structure of each framework differs, every student is still made to feel like a valued member of our Eleva school.  

The International High School Curriculum 

As of 2026, we offer pupils the opportunity to study toward the prestigious IB Diploma Program, setting our trusted Secondary school in Asa Sul apart from others in the city. Students who choose this international pathway must complete 3 core subjects and 6 elective subjects from the available learning areas. Unlike other curricula, certain subjects, called core components, do not cover traditional academic content. Rather, they target research, presentation, and social awareness skills, demanding candidates think outside of the boundaries of existing knowledge and seek new, innovative answers for old questions, mimicking a university environment and preparing them for success in advanced degrees. 

These include Theory of Knowledge, Creativity, Activity, Service, and Extended Essay. Elective subjects include Studies in Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals & Societies, Science, Mathematics, and Arts. In addition to these learning areas, pupils are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, developing well-rounded lateral thinkers. 

BNCC Pathway at our High School in Distrito Federal

We ensure full integration with the BNCC across all academic stages, preparing our High School students for the rigorous demands of this final stage. Learners who complete the BNCC benefit from a legacy of excellent results, with previous year groups ranking in the top 4 nationally for ENEM mock tests.

This curriculum emphasizes preparation for a range of Brazilian entrance exams and equips students with the skills needed to succeed in their chosen career paths. Our Classroom Without Walls framework helps build this connection by taking High School students on excursions to culturally and historically significant places across Brazil. Excursions are aligned with subject learning and designed to promote awareness alongside research skills and university readiness.
